Description

The Saab 37 Viggen is a Swedish fighter aircraft developed by Saab in the 1970s . Designed as a replacement for the Saab 35 Draken , the Viggen features delta wings , canard wings , a short takeoff and landing capability , and thrust reverser .

A variety of weapons can be carried, but mainly guided missiles were used. In addition to the AJ37 Viggen , which was used as a multi-purpose aircraft , there were also reconnaissance aircraft (SF 37), trainers (SK 37) and interceptors (JA 37), which differed from the original variant in many areas.

In 2007, the Viggen was decommissioned and replaced by the JAS 39 Gripen .
