Description

Due to the requirement to attack ground targets , the MiG 27 was developed from the MiG 23. Resistance to jamming attempts and improved air combat capability were also required. The MiG 27 was fundamentally modified for this purpose, which mainly affected the front fuselage, the air intakes and an increased weapon load . A machine gun was also installed.

In addition, the landing gear was modified for takeoff and landing on unpaved runways.

The MiG 27 was an extremely complex aircraft that was difficult for pilots to control. It was built in many different versions. The last MiG 27s were manufactured in the Soviet Union in 1986. All of the aircraft have now been taken out of service.
